Due to the devastations that hurricanes tend to cause, they are said to be one of the worst Mother Nature disasters a region could experience; take the hurricane that occurred on St Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, for example.
Stefanie DeManincor, a NY army national guardsman specialist was working in conjunction with police after this particular hurricane attacked this island.
She was on patrol when she saw a puppy on a balcony. This puppy had a tick and flea infestation that was out of hand. It was not the only animal in the island suffering from these matters. Unfortunately, the St Croix Animal Welfare Center had been greatly affected by the hurricane and thus was not suitable for animals.
Due to there being animals in need but no service, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) brought the adequate aid to St Croix. The humanitarian aid was brought by the Buffalo-based National Guard.
Not only has ASPCA helped St Croix, but it has also aided other areas that have been affected by Mother Nature, including the wildfires of California, victims of Hurricane Maria, victims of Hurricane Irma, and even victims of hurricane Harvey, among others. They have definitely done an amazing job!
